Adenocarcinoma

After 3 long weeks of lots of tests and lots of waiting my mom was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma. Lung cancer. My mom. Who has never smoked a day in her life. Who has never been in a smoke filled environment. Lung cancer. "Why?" doesn't even begin to cover what questions are running through my mind. A few more tests and appointments this week and then the fight begins. My mom is strong. She will beat the odds. She will break all rules of cancer survival. Sorry, dad, but there are more of us fighting to have her from this side. You will have to wait before you get her again.

My sister, Val, started this great blog to document the journey. Feel free to check in and see how we are all doing.

Wish you all the best. My wife was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma lung cancer 4 years ago. She is fine now, no trace of any tumor. Never smoked too. She is very well now. Encourage your mother when she gets moody,(who wouldn't?).

Lastly, not least, you and your sisters need to take care of each other too. It's tough. I've been through it also, I know. Try not to lash out. Don't play the blame game. It's nobody's fault. If nobody else seems to understand, it's alright. Find peace within.

Take care. All the best.

If there is anyone who can scare this cancer away with her positive attitude and happiness, it's your mom Becky! As my dad said yesterday to me (as we talked about this), "this cancer is scared of her and what she's going to do to it". =)

Becky - I didn't know. And I'm glad that you shared this news. I know I won't be around much longer - but let me help. With something????

p.s. Your family is gorgeous.

So sorry to hear it, I just finished a month of taking care of people with lung cancer and believe it or not a lot of them have never smoked, so sad. Anyway, let me know if you need anything!

Becky I'm so sorry to hear of your news and glad you have such an amazing support crew around you and your mom. My aunt is currently recovering from breast cancer and it is no fun road but thankgoodness for the gospel. Hang in there and we will definitely include you all in our prayers.
